Talks that President Trump’s tougher approach to China has U.S. auto workers hoping it will help create jobs at home and cut the trade deficit by $100 billion. Unfortunately, this may not be the case. It is very likely that cutting the tariff will have no measurable impact on the U.S. trade deficit. It still doesn’t make sense for automotive owners to ship high volumes of vehicles into China since it’s still cheaper to build them there to avoid the 25% import duty.
