Typically, after the third and fourth quarters (the busy holiday season), trucking companies see a slow in demand. This year that is not the case. Shipper frustration is building due to some top truckload companies adding surcharges or rejecting freight out right because of the overwhelming demand seen in this atypically busy season. Over the past few years, business conditions had favored the shippers with truckers bidding against each other to move freight. Now the tables have turned and there are few trucks to be found. Will the conditions remain, or will demand slow down enough to equalize with supply?
