The Empire State Building, a cultural icon and critical fixture in the Manhattan skyline, lit its internationally recognized tower in red and white for fifteen minutes to celebrate the firm. The Durst Organization’s three participating buildings, One World Trade Center, One Bryant Park, and 4 Times Square, and The Helmsley Building located at 230 Park Avenue remained lit in Cushman & Wakefield colors for the duration of the evening. As Cushman & Wakefield was founded in New York City, it is fitting that some of the most iconic buildings in the city paraded red and white in honor of the commercial real estate firm.

“New York is where we started 100 years ago, and over the last century Cushman & Wakefield has been involved with so many iconic structures in our home. We had a hand in the innovative Manhattan West, Hudson Yards, the historic United Nations Building, One World Trade Center, and I think every major office building in this city has been touched by Cushman & Wakefield in one way or another,” says John Santora, Vice Chairman & President, New York Tri-State Region. “Having been at the firm for 40 years, I am thrilled to be celebrating this momentous anniversary and look forward to what the firm has in store in the future.”

As New York City flaunted Cushman & Wakefield’s colors, the firm celebrated their centennial anniversary with an event at One World Observatory. The firm’s clients and employees enjoyed food and drink as they watched iconic buildings light the skyline red and white with a 360˚ view.

Cushman & Wakefield was founded by J. Clydesdale Cushman and Bernard Wakefield in New York City on October 31, 1917. Working with some of the largest and most interesting clients in the world, the firm has become a global industry leader with notable projects such as the United Nations building in New York, the Sears/Willis Tower in Chicago, the Coal Drops Yard in London, and the Duo Towers in Paris.
